Lane Racing and driver Cap Henry had one of the most impressive seasons of any team in the country in 2020, and they feel it’s just the beginning of something special. The team amassed a whopping 12 victories across Ohio, including three All Star Circuit of Champion wins, the Pete Jacobs Memorial, as well as the Attica Raceway Park and Attica-Fremont Championship Series Championships and the title of Ohio Driver of the Year by OhioDirtTrackStats.com. The Beer Barrel Bourbon machine rattled off 18 top five finishes, second best in Ohio, and led the Buckeye State in top ten finishes, with 24 in 36 starts.
“2020 was an amazing year,” Team Owner Brett Lane said. “We were so close in 2019 for the Attica and AFCS Championships and we just fell short at the end. Getting a championship at Attica was a huge mark off of our team’s goal list. You take all the wins, and it just doesn’t seem like it’s happening. I was blown away by how 2020 went- it was a dream come true.”
“We’ve spent so much time going to Attica, Fremont, and Wayne County, preparing for the opportunity to do something special when the All Stars came to those tracks. To get wins at all three of those tracks, it showed the amount of work and time we put into going to those tracks. It was the cherry on top,” Lane added.
Here’s what driver Cap Henry had to say: “It was one of those dream seasons. We couldn’t have asked for it to go any better. The team gelled and really worked well together. You always want to win as much as you can, and to win 12 races in such a short season was absolutely phenomenal.”
Lane’s goal for the offseason was to get ready to take the “next step” and get out on the road as much as possible in 2021.
Lane Racing is looking to build off of 2020 and take that “next step.” For 2021, The Lane Racing Team is excited to announce that Blake’s Hard Cider is coming on board for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, and will be the primary sponsor of the No. 4 in 2021. This partnership will allow Lane Racing to expand their racing region and take on a minimum of 27 All Star Circuit of Champions races in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as 5-6 World of Outlaw races, and about 30 local races between Attica Raceway Park, Atomic Speedway, Fremont Speedway, Millstream Speedway, Waynesfield Raceway Park and Wayne County Speedway.
About Blake’s Hard Cider, from Andrew Blake:
“Blake’s Hard Cider is the fastest growing Hard Cider Company in the country and is founded and farmed by a team that works hard, farms hard and now races even harder. At Blake’s Hard Cider we like betting on the working men and women, we like people with a passionate drive and a will to win and we see all of those qualities with the Lane Racing team, we know they have the talents, skills and passion to become champions and we want to be there to support their endeavors. We are here to make waves in the industry. We look forward to seeing how we can introduce more people to Blake’s Hard Cider through the relationships we make on the road. In a nutshell we are jacked! Our Drivers name is Cap Henry, you just hear that name and you say damn that name is going to be famous, we are going to win some races.”
“Blake’s Hard Cider is sold throughout the midwest; Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Indiana, they’re even in Las Vegas and Florida. This deal will be like a mobile marketing team for them. It also allows us to travel more. The All Star Circuit of Champions schedule is heavy in the midwest, so it was an easy target to show them ‘Hey, this is what we’re planning to run,’” said Lane.
“I’m excited that Blake’s is someone we can grow with,” added Henry. “There is a lot of room for us to grow together as a group.”
Crew chief Zack Myers is looking forward to this new partnership as well. Saying that he “Wants to build upon our successes from last season.”
Asked about what looking forward to, Myers added, “I can’t wait to see new places and have more opportunities to find victory lane.”
After the races you’ll see a cold Blake’s Hard Cider in is hand, “I really enjoy the grizzly pear,” Myers said.

While the team isn’t planning on chasing a points title anywhere, they do have a set schedule for the first time since the team started. In addition to All Star, Outlaw, and local shows in Ohio, the No. 4 machine will be starting out in Attica for a few weeks, then join up with the All Stars April 30-May 2 for a tripleheader weekend at Lernerville Speedway, Sharon Speedway, and Tri-City Raceway Park in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio. You’ll see Lane’s at I-96 Speedway in Michigan and the Dirt Oval at Route 66 in Illinois May 14-15. The following weekend the 4 will help open the doors at the new Circle City Raceway for two nights followed by two more nights at Gas City Speedway and Kokomo Speedway in Indiana. They will visit Illinois again at Fairbury Speedway on June 3rd, and then trek into Wisconsin the next three nights at Wilmot Raceway, the Plymouth Dirt Track and Angell Park Speedway.
Another big weekend will be invading Central Pennsylvania and taking on the All Stars and the PA Posse the last weekend in August, visiting Grandview Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, and BAPS Motor Speedway August 26-29. The team returns to Pennsylvania for the famed Tuscarora 50 weekend September 9th-11th at Port Royal Speedway.
With the big announcement comes big goals for Lane Racing in 2021: “To be honest, one of the main goals is learn how to travel together as a team because it’s something we’ve never done because Cap, Zack, Patty and I don’t all live in the same area.” Added Lane, “If we can learn to travel together, compete together, and learn all of the logistics because there are new roads we’re going down, new pit entrances to go in, on top of the new tracks.”
“Another goal is to win an All Star show outside of Ohio. Being in all of these other states will give us a better opportunity and will help our odds for sure,” Lane said.
“I’m not one to really set goals,” said Henry. “I just want to go out and win some more races and see what happens. It’s hard to back up a season like 2020, but if we can win some races and run well at some tracks we haven’t seen before, I’ll call the season a success,” he added.
Lane Racing will kick off their season this Friday, March 19th at Attica Raceway Park with Saturday being the rain date.
